Damn it is friggin cold here in Japan! It is really starting to piss me off. Perhaps it is not really any colder than it is in the States at this time, especially after that election, but several factors are contributing to my experiencing the cold much more profoundly here. First of all, I have no winter clothes. They are currently undergoing the excruciatingly long process of being shipped over to me by sea mail. It takes about two months, so right now my nice warm jacket and hat are somewhere on a fishing trawler in the middle of the Pacific. Second, Japanese apartments have no insulation to speak of. All the windows are single-pane. Heaters are really expensive to run, because there is no central heating. My particular apartment has two sliding glass doors which are letting out all the heat. I am staying sick until April I suspect.
